About Me
I am first and foremost a follower of Jesus Christ. I accepted Christ as a camper at East Iowa Bible Camp one summer sitting in the cabin reading the beatitudes. Yeah, I know, a little odd, but there it is. I was a nominal Christian for many years, reading my Bible occasionally, praying occasionally, and growing little. At an Easter cantata after my freshman year of college, I recommitted my life to Christ. After years of growth and learning to serve in the Church, I was called to full-time ministry in Manhattan, Kansas.
I am married to my beautiful wife Jodie. We have been married since 2005. In Jodie, God found the perfect complement to me. Where I am disorganized to incapacity, Jodie is able to sort things. Where I have troubles with a basic understanding of the English language, Jodie is a communications major (way to go God). See the case that seems to be building… Together, Jodie and I have three kids, Isaac, Abigail, and Chloe.
I work as an associate pastor for Grace Baptist Church. I had the amazing pleasure of knowing in college that I wanted to be a band/choir teacher. Most college students aren’t so sure want they want to do with their lives, but I had it all figured out. That was, until Pastor Leonard asked me to lead worship near the end of my senior year of college. As I started my first band directing job, I was confronted by the realization that I was in the wrong field. After serving in lay ministry for a number of years, I felt God’s call to move into full-time ministry as a worship director, and now associate pastor. As I look back on the last two years, I am amazed at how much God has taught me about ministry and how close He has brought me to Himself.
